Older Club Car models equipped with an Onboard Computer (OBC) need the OBC bypassed during the lithium conversion so the new battery and lithium charger operate independently of the original lead-acid charging controls. Club Cars using the later ERIC-style charging system do not use the same OBC arrangement. Once converted, use the lithium charging system included with our Club Car lithium battery conversion kit rather than routing charging through the old lead-acid setup.
No. The original lead-acid charger uses a charging profile that is not intended for LiFePO4 batteries. We include a dedicated 58.4V lithium charger with the battery, so replace the old charging method with the supplied charger when completing your Club Car lithium battery upgrade.
Yes, if your cart powers 12V lights, a horn, USB ports, stereo, fans, or other 12V accessories. If those accessories were previously powered from part of the lead-acid battery bank, connect them through a properly sized 48V-to-12V DC-DC reducer after the conversion; never connect 12V accessories directly across the full lithium battery voltage.
The BMS stops charging when battery temperature falls below 32°F to protect the LiFePO4 cells. Move the cart into a dry, temperature-controlled or insulated space and allow the battery to warm above 41°F before charging again. Do not bypass the low-temperature protection, wrap the battery during charging, or place a direct heat source next to it.
