The BMS automatically blocks charging below 32°F to protect the LiFePO4 cells. Move the UTV or battery into a warmer garage or insulated battery area and allow the battery temperature to rise naturally; charging can resume once the pack warms above the safe recovery range.
Do not bypass the low-temperature protection or force a charge while the pack is frozen. If winter charging is routine, keeping the vehicle in an insulated or temperature-controlled storage area before charging is the simplest solution.
Bring the battery to roughly 50%–80% SOC, disconnect loads that could slowly drain it, and store the vehicle or battery in a dry location. Check the battery level about every three months and recharge if the SOC has fallen significantly.
Avoid leaving the pack fully depleted through the off-season, and do not charge it while its temperature is below 32°F. These steps reduce unnecessary cell aging and prevent parasitic loads from slowly pulling the battery into low-voltage protection during storage.
Use the included LiFePO4 charger instead. Lead-acid chargers use charging profiles that are not designed around LiFePO4 chemistry and can lead to incomplete charging or trigger battery protection.

A sudden shutdown usually means the Smart BMS has stepped in because it detected conditions such as excessive current, low voltage, a short circuit, or an unsafe temperature. First remove the heavy load or electrical fault rather than repeatedly cycling the battery.
If the battery shut down after being deeply discharged, connect the correct LiFePO4 charger so the pack can recover above its low-voltage protection threshold. If an unusually high-current controller caused the shutdown, reducing the load before restarting prevents the same protection event from immediately repeating.
SOC can move more noticeably during hard acceleration or climbing because high current temporarily changes battery voltage, especially when the remaining charge is already low. The BMS then recalculates the displayed SOC, so you may see the percentage fall and later recover when the load is removed.
If the reading becomes noticeably inconsistent, fully charge the battery once to recalibrate the SOC estimate, then continue normal use. Keeping the battery connections tight also helps the monitor and BMS receive stable operating data.
